Dina Zare Full Bio
Early Childhood | I remember having a whole bunch of artworks in a massive album collected by my parents (how nice of them) but then also they “lost” it so i don’t remember much of it.
2000 | My early memories of drawing and making art is me learning how to make a character on paper over and over again. and I really liked seeing something come alive that’s not a house on a heel with a tree and th e sun! Or it didn’t look like a potato. it was something like this:
I remember my artist aunt saw my drawing and for the very first time she was impressed! She probably said it to be nice but the effect on me was BIG! Coming from narcissistic parents, pleasing people for me was a whole different pleasure…
Highschool | After the first year in HS, Students have to choose a faculty for their rest of their highschool years in Iran. That most likely is going to be the one that they will continue in university as well. Since i didn’t have the best exam results… My parents forced me into the accounting faculty. Since my dad has an accounting company, he always kinda imagined me taking after him… and I always was like, HELL NO.
I hated accounting. It was too easy! It was like being thought how to become one of those old ass calculators:
He even though me how to use one of these with my eyes closed which was actually the ONLY fun part about accounting. But then i felt that i’m literally merging with the calculator!
2013 | This is my first year in Budapest. I am in some sort of college. (More of an Iranian gov owned scam!)
The only good thing that came out of that year was being able to communicate and learn in english.
I was suppose to study business (as my father suggested). But then I found a friend that was going to study architecture. I never forget that conversation with her. I asked her:
-Does architecture has drawing classes?
-Yes. Drawing is very important for being an architect.
And that’s when my world changed. I remember the whole 2 months day and night i was studying for business entrance exam for another uni, but my soul, my whole thought, my everything was into architecture. JUST BEACUSE IT HAD DRAWING COURSES WITH IT!
Now yo might say couldn’t you just go to art university? Well, convincing my parents for architecture was way easier than convincing them for art! I also needed to understand that i don’t come from a privileged family or a lot of money so at the time architecture sounded more money making (haha). So that’s how I actually enrolled for architecture!
2014 | My first year at BME university. Everything was so… awesome. That university is a classic. I was doing the general course which meant an extra year but when i get 70% or more for all my courses, I don’r have to do the entrance exam. So i passed. I looooooved the drawing classes. Also I likes two other courses: Geometrical Construction and Conceptual Architecture. I wish all of my classes were like that. Well that was my wish in the next years anyway…
